Middle Tennessee's PGA Instructor of the Year for 2016! Congratulations Barney!!!

Hello! I'm Michel Alary, but have been know as “Barney” for over fifteen years, since I was at Austin Peay. My dad was a golf professional for thirty-eight years, so I grew up involved in golf even before people started calling me Barney. I have now been teaching golf professionally for about 13 years. Previously, I was the Head Golf Instructor at Through The Green, Highland Rim in Joelton and Head Golf Instructor at Riverside Golf Center. I have been analyzing golf swings since I was 10, so there are not a lot of swings I haven’t seen. I have a Flightscope launch monitor, to help anyone with their swing performance from beginner to advanced player. From 1988 to 1992 I played golf for Austin Peay State University. During my time there, I won two college tournaments, one of which was the 1991 Ohio Valley Conference Championship and was subsequently named 1991 O.V.C. Player of the Year. I have developed a college prep program in order to use my knowledge of playing collegially and professionally to help juniors achieve goals of one day playing college golf. That program is called Old Hickory College Prep Program. For more information on that, click

I have had several juniors qualify for the state finals throughout my years teaching, and numerous scholarships awarded to my juniors as well. Here are some other reasons to consider taking a golf lesson with me at Old Hickory Country Club: All Lessons are 45-1 hour long You don’t have to be a member to take a lesson with me! No extra charge for on the course lessons! Private practice hole. Bermuda greens that run from 10-13 on the stimp. Access to an indoor/outdoor teaching building (equipped with heat) that can provide shelter if we have bad weather (rain, snow, cold, AND shade when it is hot!). FlightScope launch monitor! Well maintained facilities
